Those famous words on love - I pray we not only teach them to our children, but that we live them, too, through Christ's power.
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal..
Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast. It is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrong. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God...
These verses are my prayer for all I know and love - that they understand how wide and long and high and deep
is the love God has for them!
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom His whole family in heaven and on earth derive its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power in your inner being...
For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.
For You created my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your words are wonderful. I know that full well.
This passage begins with how God knows each of us - where we are, what we're thinking, and everything! He is always with us,
and has known us from before we were born!
A favorite passage of mine I learned from Dick Borrud as a camper at Lee Valley Ranch. This is what true love and service in Christ are.
If God is for us, who can be against us? God's promise that nothing will separate us from His love in Romans 8:38-39 makes this a favorite scripture passage of many believers. We are more than conquerors because of Him!
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name....Teaching this piece with sign language helps connect the meaning of the words to our hearts. Children grasp this quickly, and I pray this will be a tool helps them relate to and understand these beautiful words.
